Little Baller

The girls have grown up going to basketball games with their Dad. But they have never played before in their lives. That didn't deter them from wanting to sign up to play though with the YMCA. Brynna plays with other kids who are 3 and 4 years old and have also never played. So it hasn't been as intimidating for her. But Maryn is playing with 1st and 2nd graders who obviously have some experience on the court. When we showed up on the first day, she was also the only girl on her team! Yipes! Maryn looked scared. She started to tear up a little and told Justin with boys whizzing around her making baskets "This isn't what I thought it was going to be." Luckily about 15 minutes after practice started another girl came in late. Maryn was thrilled and ran up and hugged her before I think they were even formally introduced! Ever since then Maryn has been having a blast in spite of her inexperience. What has brought my heart the most happiness though was after last week's game, one of the other parents came over to me and said "Your daughter is so cute. Even though she never makes a basket, she doesn't get frustrated or angry. She just has the best attitude!" I was so proud! I'll take a kid with a great attitude over a leading scorer any day!
